When God Speaks, It's Truth.

"He is the Holy Spirit who leads into all truth..."

Ok. So I never post twice in a week let alone in a day but, I guess there's a first time for everything.

I'm so glad that God speaks. He has many avenues in which He speaks. The most important part of Him speaking is not only are we listening to Him but are we hearing him? The bible states in Romans 10:17 that "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines hearing as to perceive and apprehend by the ear, to gain knowledge of, to gain information and to receive communication. I love that because when I merge the bible verse in Romans with the definition Webster gives I come to a conclusion that God is communicating with us through His word, both written and Holy Spirit breathed. He wants us to grasp what He is saying as knowledge so that we will take His word and respond to it. He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit of the Lord says to the called out ones.

What I love about the Holy Spirit is that He guides us into all truth. There's no need to look to the left nor to the right. When He speaks it's all we need but it's so wonderful how He gives us confirmations anyway. He doesn't give them because He's uncertain of what He said but because of the frailty of our faith. What He says will and always be the way and the life. Jesus talks about the Holy Spirit He would be sending after His resurrection. Well, in this portion of scripture in John 16:13-17 Jesus says to His disciples "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me". There we have it. What more do we need when the Spirit of the living God speaks to us? Let God be true and every man a liar Rom. 3:4.

We can never go wrong when we are led by the Holy Spirit. That's why it's so important that we stay close in relationship with God so that we can get direction, insight and understanding. We are no longer slaves but friends of God. John 15:15 says "...for I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known to you". This is so awesome because this is Jesus speaking and letting us know that we can rest assured in His word to us when we remain in Him and Him in us.

I encourage you today. If you are trying to hear from God become His friend. He is always speaking. If you have heard from God, what did you hear and what is your response to what you heard? Obedience is a conversation in itself but the ultimate goal after hearing from God is responding to what we hear. Deut. 29:29 "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do...". What a privilege it is to have the Almighty wise God speak to us.

Let's pray...

Father in Heaven help us to be lead by your ever gentle Holy Spirit. Give us ears that we may hear what you are saying to us. Then help us to obey and respond to the revelation that you have counted us worthy to be a part of. We are honored to have you speak to us and we humbly receive what You have to say. Be glorified forever in our lives. In Jesus name. Amen.
